Last Letter Home!

Sept 9, 2017

¡Hola!

How cool it is to think that this is my last letter home as a missionary.

Tomorrow we are going to have a Baptism! His name is Christian, his whole family are members but he did not get baptized with them. We started visiting him about 2 or 3 weeks ago and it just worked out, he was ready, so we re-passed the lessons and he had his interview yesterday and he will be baptized on Sunday. It has been a great week filled with a lot of memories.

I loved being here in Cozumel, I think it was the perfect way to end my mission. I still have a few more days left so I will try to soak it all in.

Thanks for the love and support that helped me through theses 2 years.

I will see you soon and just know that I love you!

August 28th,2017

It was a very good week! Yesterday I got to baptize an investigator. The Sisters of our ward was teaching her, but she asked me to baptize her! It was a great experience as it is always to baptize someone. I don´t have a picture but I am going to get one this week from a member. On Thursday Elder De La Rosa and I had to give a presentation in the Zone Conference! It was called "With an eye single to the glory of god" We talked about having a vision in the mission and the importance of having a vision of baptism. It turned out really well it was an overall great conference. Everything is going great here and we are excited for these next few week!

I love you guys so much, Just to let you know I only have 2 more weeks! These next few weeks are going to be great!

Week 99!

This week was good!

At the beginning of the week due to the baptism we had to drain the Baptism font, we realized that the pump that was used to drain the water was not working, so ya! it was to the buckets. It was a funny 2 hours of work.

To the Buckets!!

Everything has been good in the Zone, there is a lot of work to do and everyone is doing great here in Cozumel! Sorry for the short letter!

First things first. We had a baptism this week!
His name is Jorge! We were teaching Jorge and the sisters of our ward were teaching his Daughter Naomi. It was a very good experience and they were very ready to be baptized when I arrived in Cozumel.

We are doing well here in the Zone and we look forward for more success in the other areas of the zone. It has been a very good week and it is very fun to be here in Cozumel. I enjoy the zone a lot!

Everyone is very animated to work and all the missionaries here are really great!

Week 96 On the Last Trasfer!

So the big news is that I am not going to be finishing my mission here in Playa Del Carmen.

I got the call from President today. And when it’s a call from president it is something special. I am now going to be serving in the island of Cozumel as a Zone Leader! And the best part of all is that I am going to be with my old companion Elder De La Rosa! So Cool! I am very excited for my last transfer! Elder Aranda got is transfers on Tuesday and had to leave on Wednesday to go to the office to be a Materials Secretary so I am with another American for the week, Elder Bierman.

Elder Stabenow and Elder Bierman

We are teaching Rebeca right now, and she has a baptism date for today. At the beginning of the week she said that she wanted to be baptized another week and that she was not ready. So we left her with the assignment to read and ask god before deciding. The next time I went with our zone leader, Elder Trujillo, and we got talking with her and the same, another week. So I asked if she prayed, she said that she did and that she knew all of this was true, but just wanted to be baptized another week. So Elder Trujillo said "Who do you think is telling you to be baptized another week?" And a very long pause, and she said "Satan", and there was another very long pause. Then she said, "Can it be on Saturday?". I was so amazed on what happened there. And there was a strong happy feeling there in that little room.

Today we are going to baptize Rebeca. I am going to have the privilege of baptizing her and I will always remember that experience. I will try to send some pictures the next week of her. Thanks for the prayers, they really do help.

Love you all!

Week 94 Visit to Tulum!

07/17/2017

The week has been very good we were able to put some baptism dates with new people but the problem is that they did not show up to Church.

Today was very fun. We went to Tulum! Too much fun! It was so much fun this time. Way better than the last time. This time we went early in the morning, so when we got there was almost no one, so we got to take some really good pictures. If we go there as a family someday it would be best to do it early in the morning, unless we want a tour guide. As missionaries we have to get out of Tulum at 10 in the morning, because if we don´t it can get, let’s just say it can get "Spiritually Dangerous. HaHa! But it is a really nice place.

Elder Stabenow and Elder Beirman Visiting Tulum!

I have noticed that some stakes here struggle with having strong youth, and really that is what the church needs, strong youth that stand up for their beliefs. I feel that being a leader of the youth is one of the most important jobs. There are a lot of duties to do in the church and they are all very important.+

Week 90 - 92

06/ 16, 2017

Well, we are in the last week of the transfer so today is our P-day so that we can clean the house really well if we are changed. But it is very unlikely that we are changed. We are seeing a lot of progress, The Guillen Solis Family has a date to get married! The 29th of June! We had some difficulty finding and they were not able to go to church for 2 weeks but one day the Assistants came with us so that they could meet them. We got there and it was only their kids that we were teach, but then the parents came and we were able to teach the whole family. We were able to commit them to get married and baptized! It was truly a miracle! So the next day my companion and I went and got the papers they needed to set a date for their wedding and they will be married on the 29th! We are so excited for them!

Thanks for all the support

Week 91

Just to let you guys know that we were not changed and we are doing alright here. We are definitely trying to find a lot of new investigators, but we all is well. Not much has changed this past week. Last Sunday I ran into a few people from my stake, it was fun to see them and talk with them, I did not recognize them at first but they mentioned that they were from Kaysville, and then I said i was from Kaysville as well and we found out that we were in the same stake. Also that same Sunday we had a LOT of Gringos in the church, actually a big group of them sang in a choir and they did "Soy un Hijo de Dios" In Spanish! It was super good! Sorry for not saying much this week!

Week 92

Not too much happened in the week, but I felt that is was a setting up success for the next week. We are doing an activity with the members where we teach about Prayer, than we share from Acts 1:23-26 and then we invite them to make a list of friends or people they now, and we also invite them to pray to find out who God has choses from that list to be a member of the Church. We already have plans this week to receive more than 8 referrals from members. It will be exciting to see what happens this next week. Hope Everyone has a good 4th of July, because it will be pretty normal around here in Mexico!

Thanks for all they prayers and support.

6/5/2017 to 6/13/2017

6/5/2017
Hello Everyone!

I have not sent a weekly letter for quite some time. We are doing alright here in Playa Del Carmen, we are still teaching The Guillen Solis Family and we hope that they get married soon and also get baptized, and they are doing great. I see a lot of potential in them.

This week I have been studying a lot about the Priesthood, What a wonderful thing it is to have Priesthood holders in our homes and the what a blessing it is to have the Priesthood to bless the lives of others as The Lord desires, I love that knowledge of that.

I decided to send a picture of Elder Aranda and I doing a practice in our home for his training, it was a fun little Idea and I think it worked well, we were just teaching together to a piece of paper with a face on it.

Thanks for the love and support

Teaching!

6/13/2017

Hello Everyone!

At the beginning of the week we had our Generation Meeting so we got to go back up to Cancún and have a Meeting with our Mission President. It was really good and it was fun to see a lot of other missionaries. When we were leaving the mission office to go back to Playa Del Carmen I hugged my ex-companion Elder Kenison and realized that it was going to be my last time seeing him in the mission. He will be going back to Utah on the 18th of this month.

In this ward I really love the members here, they are really good people and are willing to help us in the Work, we will be definitely working a lot with the members in the following weeks to find more people to teach.

Sorry for not having to much to say about the week!

Week 84 Skype with the family!

Elder Stabenow Skyping with the family!  What a great time!!

My new area is Playa 1 in the Ward Playa Del Carmen and my new companion is Elder Aranda who is just starting his mission!
At the first of the week we were walking quite a bit and we were struggling to find people to teach and also learn the area, but I learned that the lord does help us to be able to complete our Goals, One goal for Training is that the new missionary invites an investigator to be baptized in the first week. I was a little worried about that goal because of the lack of investigators but we had to stick to it to the end, which was literally Sunday, 8:00 pm, and we were able to have a lesson, gain 3 new investigators and my companion was able to invite them to baptism that was a good highlight of the week.

I must say that my last skype call was the best one that I have had in the mission! I felt so happy and motivated after talking with my family!

Have a great week!

This week the Moo Pool family gave us a referral and now we are teaching Brother Miguel´s Cousin! That was fun too see! We do have some people that can be baptized very soon, so with some miracles we could have a baptism soon!

Birthday Week!! Elder Stabenow is 20!

Thanks so much to everyone that wished me a happy birthday!

It was a really fun day for me, it was a lot better than my last one.😉

The other secretaries gave me a cake in the morning and for the afternoon we went to eat at a members home. The Member knew it was my birthday and cooked something special for me. She made me Lasagna! It was so good! And later that night another sister with the same birthday as mine gave us a pizza to eat.

It was a really fun week and we have had a lot of rain this last week. It has been really nice to have a break from all the heat. Thanks for making it a great birthday week!

Baptism

This week was such a wonderful week. First The Moo Pool Family got Married and they were just baptized this saturday! I was given the opportunity to baptized the Mom, and Dad of this family, Miguel, and Silvia. It meant a lot to me. I have seen such an amazing change in them and it was such a sweet experience.
The next week we are planning on another baptism of one man, Enrique.

To be honest this has been on the the most meaningful weeks in my entire mission.

Thanks for everything

1/14/2017

This week was good, I did have some work to do in the offices but it was a normal week.

We are excited to be here in Tumbencuxtal and we are finding more and more investigators and we are very grateful for the blessing of that.

I don`t have to much to say about the week, but everything is very good here. Thanks for the love and support

First voice message from Cancun  Jan 7, 17
Hello at home I hope everyone is doing great. I decided to send a voice message this week and I know a little bit different because now you cant hear the chickens or dogs or other or all the other things that happen in Ucum.

But I'm here now in and cancún my area is called Tumbencuxtal I do not know what it means and it's hard to learn. But the area is huge. It’s a little bit different now. Being a secretary in the morning and we get to the offices at 10:00 in the morning and we stay there until 2:00 in the afternoon. After that we go and eat with the members. I've heard sometimes that the sectaries have to stay a little bit longer to get get things started. But if there is anything special. So sometimes it's all day.

But I haven't had that yet.
I don't know when we'll have that but it's a really cool experience to be in office as I really like it already. It's fun. I'm working with great people there and I'm working close to the President and assistants, other secretaries, it's really fun.
Today we had another house that we lived in, this week but we were super far away from the offices so we. So we changed houses today with some other missionaries. So we're about 15 minutes away from walking from the offices.

So we'll see how that goes for us and we hope it's a good change. Here in the area, Tumbencuxtal  were kind of  starting off.
We're starting off with a fresh plate we don't have that many people to be teaching right now but we do have people who are preparing for baptism.

The investigators that the sister missionaries left are really good. They have a lot of potential and it's been really great to see them and I've  liked what I've seen here in this area. We've  met some less active. They're really really good actually. And that might change a little bit. And I'm hoping that that can change for them. I was thinking I would be a little bit sad to leave Ucum, I am a little bit. But I really know that. I was meant to be sent to this area and to Tumbencuxtal.

I think it will be a good time here. I don't know how long I'll stay here at least I have heard that the secretary Secretarys stay for atleast three transfers so maybe four months here maybe longer I hope. But. Everything is really good here. We're starting off on a new foot. but it's really good.
My companion is Elder de la Rosa. He's from the Dominican Republic and he's really cool.
He's a funny guy. He's a skinny guy like me but he's really fun. His attitude. He has one of those personalities from from that part of the area. It's just fun. It's just fun to be with him. It's really funny because all of us in offices what we consider as the offices where it's the secretaries and the assistants also President Reynoso. and there's only one who is a Mexican and all the rest. There's two Americans one from the Dominican Republic My companion and one from Guatemala. And then the other assistant is another American. So there's not really that many Mexicans there in the offices but it's really fun to be there and talk with them.

It's very different. But I really like it and it's fun.  Well I'm doing great here. I'm really loving it.
And Cancun is very different than my other areas. I've been, in Chetumal and Ucum and there's a lot of things that are happening here and there is huge. But I'm doing good here. I love it. And. It's as fun to work and have it's fun. It's really satisfying and I'm loving being here and this in this time to preach the Gospel and to Also assist other missionaries with what they need. I do get a lot more calls now.

in the office I work with my own computer I'm kind of working on my own stuff. The secretaries are doing their own things. I don't know what they do exactly, but as for  my assignment I work with all of them and materials I manage the packages all. Pamphlets, the books of Mormon. We're going to give. I prepare for stuff like that, getting ready for Conferences for president and everything. I do a lot of work, I also order name tags for the missionaries. I do a lot of stuff but I'm still learning, I'm not sure how to do everything but. Little by little I'm learning and it's all good and it's really fun and it's fun to be there in the system.

Thank you for all the things, You guys have done for me. I know that you guys are praying for me and that's helping me out a lot. I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH AND. I thank you for all that you have done for me.  We are going to have we're going to have success here in Tumbencuxtal. I feel that, I am pretty sure we're going to have a lot of success here. I think we're going to help this world out a lot. I love you guys so much.
 Thank you for everything.

 Elder Stabenow
